Avoid this card in most cases and prepare to be underwhelmed by it even when the conditions are perfect for it
Overall, while Elturel Exile has potential in specific decks, it may not be the optimal choice for competitive play
Im never upset drawing this card

A good start includes 35-39 lands and a handful of rocks, though certain decks (particularly artifact-focused ones like Breeches, the Blastmaker or Slobad, Iron Goblin) will play more
Our goal is to use cards like Manifest Dread, Hide in Plain Sight, and Threats Around Every Corner to get a massive threat like Valgavoth, Terror Eater, Vaultborn Tyrant, or Portal to Phyrexia on the battlefield as a face-down 2/2 creature and then use Parting Gust, Hauntwoods Shrieker, or Unyielding Gatekeeper to flip the face-down creature face up to build a massive monster as early as Turn 3
